Want a Yahoo! DVD player? Electronics Licensed by Yahoo!

Yahoo! “lent” their brand and logo to an anonymous electronics producer to launch a line of consumer electronics. Or, better say, the producer was anonymous up to the moment when they concluded the licensing agreement with Yahoo!, as it seems that he is already becoming famous! If not by products, then at least by the comments generated by this topic.
This licensing agreement is one step of a series of such actions representing an approach of the Yahoo! marketing strategy. Yahoo! extended their existing licensing program from computer peripherals “as it had been going on for several years” to additional electronics items manufactured by Diamond Electronics.
It seems that the products by Diamond Electronics fit the quality standards necessary to maintain the good name of such a brand as Yahoo!, since they have met the requirements necessary to be included in the marketing policy of Yahoo!.
The newly launched range of products features several DVD players and home theater systems that can be bought on-line. On the selling web locations the products are described to have high-end technology characteristics combined with functionality and versatility. It will be for the buyers to see for themselves whether it's pure commercial talk or the products really stand up to their description.
What really catches the eye is the retro-looking DVD player YDP-530, or the MetroRetro DVD Player — its “stage” name. It has an original, seventies-looking design given by the VU meters in front, that monitor audio volume and video bit rate.
Otherwise, no outstanding feature of any other product seems to really make a difference from competition (of course, besides the fact that they have Yahoo! written on them).
