Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. was honored with four CES Innovations 2005 Design and Engineering Showcase Awards. The Best of Innovations Award in the Mobile/Vehicle Electronics Audio/Video category was assigned to the SD-P2700 Toshiba Portable DVD Player.
Toshiba is renown for its high end line of home entertainment products, including televisions, home theater projectors and portable devices. The company's innovative achievements in DVD technology were also acknowledged and rewarded during CES Unveiled — The Official Press Event of the CES 2005. The Portable Toshiba DVD Player was on display among “best of the best” products.
The SD-P2700 Portable DVD Player is highly optimized for travel. Its flexible swivel screen enables different viewing angles, allowing rotation up to 180º and even completely flat folding. It is smaller and lighter than a typical notebook PC (informative approximate dimensions W10"/D7.5"/H2.5"). Its high resolution 8.9" widescreen TFT LCD dispaly offers the advantage of a big, bright picture. The player has a Lithium Ion battery pack that requires only 3 hours to charge and gives the possibility of a 3.5 hours usage. It plays DVD-Video, DVD-R, Video CD, MP3 and WMA CD-R & CD-RW and also digital picture CDs (JPEG).
The awarded products were on display in the Innovations Pavilion at the 2005 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre between 6 and 9 January 2005. Beside the SD-P2700 Portable DVD Player, the Toshiba products that received CES Innovations Awards were:
- the 62HMX94 Cinema Series® DLP(TM) Projection TV;
- the 23HLV84 TheaterWide® HD LCD TV/DVD combination unit;
